Everyone is back home!

Dad is home now with the twins from their big adventure at the beach with the family. It is really nice to be able to have them entertained really well by a big adventure while he is in the hospital. I think that is the key to them not missing us as much. Cameron was soooo happy to see Daddy, brother & sister. There were lots of hugs! All 3 kids tucked into their beds=happy mommy!

Fever is better!

His fever stopped & we are going home first thing in the morning!!!! Yayyy! The next time we come up here is kind of a big deal (in a good way). Since it will be his last scheduled in-patient chemo he gets a "graduation gift" a cake & an autographable congratulations sign on his door! Awww! It will be his first landmark met in all of this :) Whew! His little friend Collin "graduated" today & he was super cute & very proud! It is sad to see the new friends go, but happy too! Thank you Rachel!! :)

Nausea is no fun

He had some nausea last night & this morning even though he had all of his anti-nausea meds. Gotta love the 3am run downstairs to do laundry :) They have a free laundry room for the families. It is nice to be able to clean up here & be back to clean & cozy! Other than the nausea he is doing great!

His latest adventures....he looks so big!!

Info on the next phase of treatment.

So, I thought this "Interim Maintenance" phase was supposed to be the hardest on him but I was corrected today.  Once we finish this phase we move on to "Delayed Intensification"  for 57 days, and then its "Maintenance" phase.  I was told today that "delayed intensification" is the one final blast to the cancer so it is considered the hardest phase on the kids from what his doctor said.  I wasn't excited to hear this, but I guess its better to know what he will be up against.  She said he is responding extremely well and he may just surprise us all in the next phase too!  :) I like that!!

All settled in!

Cameron's spinal tap went really well. He woke up nicely from it, had some lunch and is all settled in for the next round! On the drive up here I saw the Dornbecher's "Panda Team" ambulance flying down the freeway in the opposite direction. It made my heart beat faster and a little sick to my stomach to think another child needs it. I can't believe that at one time, they were zooming down the freeway for our little Cameron. We are just so lucky it was caught so quickly. Thank you again for all of your love, prayers & support!

Yayyy! We passed his blood test!!

Yayyy! He passed his blood test this morning so we are off to Dornbechers tomorrow morning! His ANC# (resistance to infection) was 1200!! It had to be 750 or higher. He will have only 1 more mandatory admission for chemo after this! Whaa hooo!

He is doing well!

Cameron & his Joy Jar from the Jessie Rees foundation!
 Just the boys!
Is that dust or Angels all around him? Hmmmm  :) I think its his Angels :)
Cameron is still doing really well. There is not as much nausea this time around (past the time during his really hard chemo in the hospital) or we are managing it really well. He takes a daily chemo pill (Mercaptopurine or 6-MP) Friday through Monday every week. We also take the daily Morphine, Methadone, Zofran & Gabapentin several times throughout the day. We had a fun time at a wedding this weekend and a nice night at our friends BBQ. He is just one of the kids. He is still wanting mom quite a bit but at least he will play with the kids. The new plan from the pain team seems to be working well with his painful knees. It is amazing how much fuzz on his head he still has!!! This chemo was supposed to give him mouth sores and the rest of his hair to be gone. No sores and he still has fuzz, eyelashes & eyebrows!! Dad is going to take the twins to the beach for some fun with the grandparents. The twins do much better with all of this, since we figured out to distract them with adventures! Thank you Aunt Kiss, Uncle Brad, Kelsey, Kayleen, Grandma, Grandpa & Roberta!!!!

The next try!

Wednesday, August 22nd is the next time we will try with a blood test to see if Cameron passes his ANC# of 750 or higher to have the 3rd of 4 planned admissions to the hospital for the high dose Methotrexate & spinal tap with Methotrexate in his spine as well. This will put us at day 29 of 64. Whew! We are almost through this 64 day phase of treatment!! Go Cam go!! So far off & on we have had a total of 20 overnight stays in the hospital! Not bad!!  :)

We are home!!

We are home!!! Yayyy! Yesterday he woke up at 8am went back to sleep at 10am, then woke up again at 3pm. He refused to eat until 4pm but now he is back in action!! The doctors said it was due to the double the regular dose of fluids to clear his irritated kidneys. They are back in the range that they want them to be now. He is back to being the silly, goofy boy again!! Yayyyy!

Another Dornbecher day!

The rumor is we get to go home Sunday around 5-ish!! Yayyy! Good news is always good! We have his nausea under control, pain under control and his labs look pretty good! The pain team stopped by and increased his plan of attack. He had great day! The only bump was when he pulled his "tube" out, but he get to wear a cool new vest & 3 safety pins instead of 2! Our little Houdini...they said active 2 year olds tend to pull them out regularly! Developmentally he is right on track!!! :)

He is doing great!

Cameron is doing pretty well so far! He isn't eating much but he is in good spirits! The no eating was to be expected from what the doctors said when we were released. So far no mouth sores yet! He looks a little pale but he still has energy! I am happy with this round of chemo so far.  His brother & sister turned 4 yesterday and he is getting really good at singing Happy Birthday!! He is also mastering "itsy bitsy spider" too..."Watch, mommy watch" then the"itsy bitsy spider" again & again & again!!! I have never been so happy to hear a song a million times!! :)
